Danish composer Bent Sørensen has won the 2018 Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition for his triple concerto L’Isola della città. The $100,000 prize is awarded annually by the University of Louisville. Sørensen is, of course, an outstanding composer with an impressive catalog of works.

Recent works of his include Evening Land (to be premiered by the NY Phil Nov. 30th), Fantasia appassionata for piano, and Inverno d’amore for viola d’amore and 5 instruments which you can hear on this excellent concert curated by Sørensen.

You can hear the winning piece on YouTube: Movements 1-2
